What will I learn whilst studying the CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 1 Award in Waste and Recycling?

The CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 1 Award in Waste and Recycling consists of one unit – Introduction to Waste and Recycling.

At the end of this course, learners will achieve the following learning outcomes

  • Know how to accept and collect waste and recyclable materials
  • Know how to remove and dispose of waste
  • Know how to work safely
  • Know how to operate waste and recycling equipment and vehicles safely (underpinning knowledge only)

How will I be taught and assessed?

There are two options available:

Option 1 – Blended Learning:

Learners/Employers can choose to have the course delivered on their premises by a CIWM (WAMITAB) approved tutor. This will consist of a 1 day training session, plus further training carried out through our virtual learning environment.

Option 2 – E-Learning:

Enviroawards operates a VLE (Virtual Learning Environment). Each learner will be given their own unique log in details to access the course. The course is accessible from any device e.g. computer, laptop, tablet or phone. The course can be accessed at any time meaning that learners/employers can spread the course out over a period of time to suit their needs. This can prove less disruptive to operations by eliminating the need to have various staff members attending training on the same day. Every learner will be allocated a tutor that they can contact at any point to ask questions relating to the course.

Once an individual/employee feels confident that they are ready to be assessed on what they have learnt, we will organise for a test to be conducted. The test is multiple choice. This means you will be provided with a test paper and asked to answer a series of questions by selecting the best possible answers from a list of four choices.

Because the CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 1 Award in Waste and Recycling is a Regulated Qualification, strict test conditions must be met. This means that we must appoint an invigilator. The invigilator will sit in on the test to ensure the test is being carried out in line with CIWM (WAMITAB) and OFQUAL requirements.

What happens if I fail the multiple choice test?

If you fail the multiple choice test, you will need to arrange a resit. You can do this by contacting the Enviroawards office. The number can be found on the contact us page. The arrangement of a new test will incur fees payable to Enviroawards and CIWM (WAMITAB). This is due to the resources required such as arrangements for invigilation, new examination documents and external marking.

How much does the CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 1 Award in Waste and Recycling Cost?

We are one of the most competitively priced CIWM (WAMITAB) training providers in the UK. We have a passion for Education and Training, especially in the waste, resource and environmental sector. This is primarily due to the major skills deficit within our industry. We are trying our best to overcome this through the training services we provide. We want our qualifications to be more accessible to organisations and individuals alike. One of the ways in which we achieve this is by making them more affordable. Our price includes the CIWM (WAMITAB) and Centre registration fees, allocation of a tutor, invigilation arrangements and for external marking. There are no hidden fees when you study with us.

The costs vary based on factors such as qualification delivery method e.g. classroom delivery or E-learning. It is also dependant on the number of learners enrolled in any one organisation. This is because invigilation must happen regardless of learner numbers. If you are an individual that wants to undertake this qualification, please contact us as we may be able to offer this award at a discount.
